• Weather in Athens

Athens experiences a typical Mediterranean climate, with most rainfall occurring between mid-October and mid-April. The rest of the year is usually very dry, making Athens one of the sunniest cities in Europe.

Winters are characteristically mild with a pleasant daytime climate and cool nights. Winter rain tends to fall in short and occasionally heavy showers. Snow is very rare. Summers can see heat waves with temperatures reaching a sweltering 40°C, although they tend to average about 32°C.
Spring and autumn are ideal times for visiting as temperatures are cooler than during the scorching summers and dryer than the wet winters.
